Most of us know we need to make time for strategy. But the day doesn’t start with strategy on fire - it starts with logistics, emails, invoices, teams, surprises. Strategy’s the bit that waits politely while everything else shouts.
Anjali Devadasan put it well on the podcast: “Strategy always gets pushed to the last day of the week when you’re most tired.”
She’s not alone. But she is one of the few who actively defends it by blocking a morning every week and making it a default.

Take Action
If you’re a leader:
Treat strategic thinking like a renewable resource - protect the time before the energy runs out. Mark it in the diary as a meeting with someone who sounds important so people who can see your diary won’t override it. You know what it really is.
If you’re a team member:
Put a time in the diary for your team to get together to think strategically. Your colleagues all wish they had more time for it too. They’ll thank you for taking the initiative and making it happen.
